Urinalysis

Had to do a urinalysis it sat in room temp for 3 hours before it got to the lab because I also had to do a fecal calproctin and didn’t know that leaving it out could possibly be an issue. Results came back pos for leukocyte esterase and blood. Microscopic was done and came back positive for rbc, wbc, calcium oxalate crystals, and hyaline casts. Could the fact that it sat for so long cause these results? Saw the results online Saturday morning and will call GI tomorrow but until then was wondering if anyone knew anything about this?? Thanks

Yea went back and fourth since I did read that urine should only be room temp for an hour and then after that should go in fridge. But also your right how would that stuff appear..... I will let you know.

So my GI said it’s most likely because I didn’t follow the steps of a “clean catch” lol so I re did it! Fingers crossed that that’s all it was

Came back pos for wbc, rbc, and hyaline casts still.... but no blood this time. My blood work was completely normal....

Ugh really frustrated nurse sent me a message on my health portal saying my doctor would call me later this week or next week. Which is weird to me they never do that. I don’t know why the nurse can’t just call me and tell me! I don’t want to think about it anymore . WBC (in urine) did go down though the first time it was 90 and second time it was 5. (Normal is 0-2)
