I'm probably ready for Humira but don't see the doctor until next year. Meanwhile I am signing up for a US Medicare part D drug plan. To find a plan that covers your medications, and to compare the cost, what you do is input the drug and dose into the Medicare tool. Then the program generates a list of insurance companies and all the details.
For Humira I need an idea of an average prescription and there are too many choices to make an educated guess.
Here is one list to choose from,
Humira(Adalimumab Prefilled Syringe):
Humira INJ 10/0.1ML
Humira INJ 10MG/0.2
Humira INJ 20/0.2ML
Humira KIT 20MG/0.4
Humira INJ 40/0.4ML
Humira INJ 40MG/0.8
or
Humira PEN(Adalimumab Prefilled Syringe):
Humira PEN INJ 40/0.4ML
Humira PEN INJ 40MG/0.8
Humira PEN INJ PSORIAS:
The formulary differs among different plans, so of course the idea is to avoid ending up with no coverage.
Sometimes that's simple. All plans will cover standard common drugs. Uceris Foam is simple too; no one covers it. Humira might be more complicated. What's INJ versus PEN INJ? And what's a resonable choice, since I don't have access to the doctor until enrollment is closed.
The Medicare site can be weird. For example Remicade and infliximab are not found. At least with Uceris Foam the program acknowledges that it exists.
Thanks for any ideas. Even a rough estimate will help me know where to start.
