Finally started Humira

Countess ... when I was in remission on Entyvio I was completely like I was pre-UC. No IBS issues. No issues at all. For almost 1-1/2 tears I loved Entyvio. The first sign I had that it was starting not to work as well was a bit of blood when I wiped. Then a week or so later I saw some more. It was a slow motion flare. Never had full diarrhea but stools slowly became less formed and I saw more blood. The past few weeks there has been quite a bit of blood and stools are just very small pieces.

Curiously stools are a bit more formed today. Find it hard to believe Humira would work that fast, but hoping for the best!

Did my second loading dose on Saturday. No side effects or problems with the injection.

Does anyone know how long Humira takes to make a significant improvement? For a few days after the 1st loading dose things seemed to be improving and then the improvement stopped. The day I took my 2nd loading dose there was a good bit of blood and stools were very close to diarrhea. Now a couple days after the 2nd loading dose stools are more formed (not normal but closer than they have been) and there's still some blood.

Really wish the blood would stop. Was at my PCP this AM and with my continued low hemoglobin I need another iron infusion. He said he can't order that and is referring me to a hematologist.

I'm trying to be patient and I've only been on Humira a little over 2 weeks, but I am so ready to put this flare in the past!

I'd expect about 6-8 weeks to know for certain whether humira will work for you . You're in the loading dosage stage, so not unusual to see some ups and downs as your blood/humira concentration is not yet up to ideal therapeutic (healing) levels. Encouraging that you've seen some early positive signs, but not unusual to have a waning affect, as you are not yet at the needed concentration for a sustained response.

I think I saw dramatic improvement after the first non loading dose. I was then able to wean easily down on the prednisone. At first I thought it was between the 2nd loading and first regular shot but I think it was closer to the first regular shot. I definitely know people who didn't see remission until 12 weeks. Patience is hard with this disease. I haven't seen blood since early September but Ive been having days of diarrhea here and there with mucus at times. I have good days too but not enough. I am getting a colo on Thursday to evaluate things but this disease is enough to send you to the looney bin. I hope Humira works for you!
