Every single word you're saying is exactly my experience and thoughts. I had my surgery today a week ago. Thank you for sharing your story.
Awesome! Just read your thread, hope things are going well.

Wow, so happy for you! Congrats on now being UC-free. I can't imagine being in a flare with no relief for 5 years. I am surprised you are already able to go on a backpacking trip 3 weeks out from a major surgery!
Thank you! Yes, the past few years were terrible. Honestly I felt pretty great the first week after surgery besides some general abdominal soreness and have felt pretty much fully recovered (zero pain, soreness) for well over a week now. The body is pretty incredible.

Great story. Mine is different then yours. I got UC at 26,I'm now 59 and I just had my 3 surgeries this year. Like u life is great now. No anxiety. No toilet radar needed wondering where closest bathroom is. Very happy for u at such a young age. U can focus on living a great life without being held hostage by the UC monster. Good luck
Wow, that's a long journey! So happy for you too. And agreed. It's so nice not thinking about
the "toilet radar" anymore.

I am glad you are doing good! I also had the fear of of being young and not having a colon, I’m 20 but i definitely like my no colon life way better than my colon one! Seems like you are recovering really fast I hope your whole recovery process goes that way!
Hey, that's for sure! Hope you're doing great, too!

Very Impressive! It’s great to hear you are doing so well so quickly. My only caution would be to make sure it’s a light backpack. You don’t want to wreck the success of your recovery with a hernia.
Thanks! I am still abiding by the 10 lb rule (or close to it, anyway). Friends can handle the heavier stuff!
