This is my first post and I found the forums in an information search. Having said that, I feel like I am filling out a bio on match.com. Kidding aside, I have jokes, some background and a few questions to follow... I look forward to the discussion.
BACKGROUND: I have the benefit of decades of experience with the entire autoimmune cascade. After years of working through issues and a food diary I determined (believe) my issues were/are due to high lectin foods. My initial symptoms included abdominal bloating, minor weight gain, increased heart rate & bounding pulse (similar to what you would see with a Pheo), mucus in my stool or just mucus and blood in stool or just no stool with mucus and blood or just mucus with no blood or stool.
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis around the age of 35 which is when I enjoyed (not) my first Colonoscopy... I will never drink Orange Gatorade again. In fact, I had enough mushrooms to make an Auburn student happy.
CURRENT MEDIATIONS:
*Canasa
*VSL 3
*Minocyclin.... No, not a Harry Potter villain.
CURRENT SYMPTONS:
*Significant abdominal distention.
*Distention is exaggerated and worse shortly after I drink or eat something.
*I produce stool roughly once a week...this stinks. The stool begins solid and completes loose and watery. The stool has odor like when I am not absorbing (similar to when I have a flare up).
NORMALLY:
If I have a flare up and using Canasa I produce watery stool daily with a distinct odor... malabsorption.
If I add VSL 3 my stool becomes hard, I do not poo as often, and it looses the odor... well most it.
Sorry no pictures
COMMENTS:
*I am wondering about
the interaction with my antibiotic? I should be taking these for another 60 days and I am on bottle 3 of VSL3. I have increased the dosing to see if that help... no change.
Recommendations?
