Well, back to daily enemas. Advice please

I think blood scares most people and so when we see it, it makes us think thinks must be bad!

I haven’t seen any since that day but I am on daily enemas which I think are helping that.

My BM is solid and the blood confuses me but from reading these posts I guess the delicate and inflamed part is close to the end of my colon. Maybe irritated by enema nozzle or harder poop?

Anyways, it doesn’t matter bc I’m sticking to daily enemas for at least 4 more weeks. Maybe longer.

I guess I would agree with solid and once daily and a bit of blood is better. This morning that is what I had again. I wonder why?

What does that exactly mean? I left side and rectum is delicate and inflamed still and is still bleeding inside?

With UC, inflammation is always the most severe within the rectum, and rectal inflammation is the very last to heal.

So, seeing solid stools tells you that you are healed higher up in the large intestine. Seeing blood on that solid stool tells you that there is still inflammation within your rectum. You could have a small patch of severe/moderate inflammation that is bleeding. You could have a more extensive area of very mild inflammation that is bleeding.

Once a day? Probabaly limited lower in rectum. As ipoop mentioned....takes much longer. I suggest you call your doc and ask for supps to use during the day.

Inflammation and friability and hardness of stool play a delicate dance. If your stool is harder, start making food choices to soften it, or add metamucil or stool softener or add more vitamin C to the mix. Drink more water.

If you have an internal hemmie, yes the enema can cause it to bleed.

You can ask if your doc can take a look....if he doesnt do that, ask if he can send you to a colorectal surgeon for proper assessment.

I just found out from my GI that he doesn't have a rigid scope for in office look-see. Issue is having someone available to clean it properly on days when the team isn't there when doing scopes. So much for that suggestion I throw out there assuming all GI's have one. Inconvenient when there would be a need and relief for a patient. Note to self.
