Hello
I've been in a stable Remicade remission but now have a virus/cold. My main symptom is post nasal drip that causes to me to cough all night long. I've not really had a sickness since starting the biologics over a year ago. I need something to control the cough at night but have been afraid to take any meds. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use/take that won't cause GI upset? I don't want it to progress to a sinus infection because I will not take antibiotics!

I hit an antihistamine for PND — they dry things up. Even Benadryl can be super helpful.

Last time i had a cold with post-nasal drip I was sucking sore throat lozenges (without medication) at night, it helped to stop the coughing. Also i drank lots and lots during the day to keep the throat moist and at the risk of stating the obvious talking can make it worse so i tried to minimise that

Colloidal silver spray into my nostrils several times a day has helped me a lot. It's natural and works wonders on colds.

Doesn't that turn the skin blue eventually?

Works for me every time, have not been on flu shots or antibiotics for more than a decade
Black seed oil 3 x 1tablespoon / day
vitamin c - as much you can tolerate (1 gram every couple hour)
oregano oil (few drops mixed with 1tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil)
citrus juices with turmeric and ginger (lemons and grapefruits are the best)
Himalayan salt gargling
colloidal silver
try to use organic ingredients. Try a bit of one thing and see how it works for you.
The safest is gargling salt three times/day or more. Works great, just be persistent.

I hate colds!
Don't take antihistamines continually for a cold. First day or two for constant running is OK...after that, it will work in reverse to create a thicker and stay put mucus.
Use mucinex, drink enough fluids, eat, take sudafed, tylenol for pain...
And if the mucus is dark yellow, turning green or orange and excess pain in ears, sinuses or chest.....see your doc.
Wash hands after every nose blow...use new tissue each time. I knew a lady who nursed the same one for hours...i think it dried via her sleeve she tucked it under. Ugh.
Get well soon!

Poopydoop- From what I've read, it's large amounts of ingesting homemade silver compounds that can cause the changing of skin color. The colloidal silver sprays provide very small doses and haven't changed my skin coloring in the slightest.

You have to know which type of colloidal silver you are using. I didn't want to give the specific name, but as I said look for an organic products. Argentyn23, pharmaceutical grade colloidal silver, is one of the best antiviral alternative medicine today.

They all seem to upset my gut. I sometimes take Sudafed once or twice when I'm scared of a cold becoming a sinus infection but it makes me feel crappy. Neti pots are good but only provide temporary relief. I haven't had issues with Benadryl but it has never helped me with a cold either. I take an antihistamine daily for allergies and have no side effects.
