Substitute for VSL #3 DS

So I saw at least one post on here saying others are having trouble getting prescription VSL #3 DS. Looks like it may not be made anymore? I've been taking it ever since trying to get out of a flare about 8 years ago and I haven't had a flare since. I found a pharmacy that had 60 sachets and was able to get those, but guessing that may be the last I'll find anywhere.

Has anybody found anything that helps them as well as this powder? I also take Ultimate Flora Extra Care pill once/day but I find the powder helps the most. I notice if I'm off on vacation somewhere and am not able to get back and run out I do start feeling just generally crappy, and after a few days back on it I feel much better. So I hate to just stop taking the powder. I feel maybe it gets absorbed much better (since it's dissolved in liquid) than a pill so maybe that's why it helps more. Or just the combination of bacteria in there works for me. Not sure if some of us just have more 'bad' bacteria in their gut than others but I do feel this just helps keep me as normal as I can be.

Looks like Visbiome isn't covered by my insurance (even though when I search for it on their site it does come up, so they seem to know it exists). I wrote them a note asking if they plan to cover it since VSL#3 DS is discontinued and they do cover that. But I don't have high hopes they will cover it. Most likely I get a generic response saying their formulary changes often and they don't know what they may or may not cover. So if I get it costs will be extremely higher than I pay now with insurance. I'll have to figure out what to do. I'd hate to go into a flare again just because I can no longer take this med. Once you find something that works for you, you don't really want to mess with things.

Keep appealing with insurance (it worked for me w my last insurance), especially if you argue that you believe taking the probiotic is preventing you from escalating to biologics. They hate the cost of biologics so will sometimes cave. My current insurance won’t cover any of the probiotics but some of the pharmacies have some coupon codes they use. Check out GoodRX and see if that helps.

I never did hear back from them about the Visbiome. I'm sure they don't want to cover it and are probably very happy VSL DS will no longer be made. My argument was about biologics. But her tried appealing in the past but another UC drug using the same argument and they decided that. They are a horrible insurance company, cover less and less every year.
