I have UC from last 4 years.i have noticed many times that i get bruises very easily.can anyone tell me why this happens and how to prevent or improve this

Have you had any blood work recently with platelets? If your platelets are unusual then that might be the cause. Are you taking sufficient Vitamin C, as deficiency in it can cause this? Here's a read on a few things it could be, all requiring tests and doctor's help:

What meds are you on? Bruising can be caused by weakened blood vessels from aspirin and prednisone.

Hemorrhoids and maybe varicose veins are also caused by weak and distended blood vessels. Vitamin C with bioflavonoids can help. And the first time I had hemorrhoids I took extra rutin, quercetin, and butcher's broom, herbs that are supposed to strengthen blood vessels and capillaries. I could have also added horse chestnut but there are rumors of side effects with that herb.

My hemorrhoids were gone in a couple of days. Maybe this will also help your bruising.

I took lots of pred in past..right now i am on 100 mg AZ and 2.4 g of mes.
I took last 5 mg pred 3 months ago

The other question is where is your bruising? If it’s showing up primarily on shins/ankles and is preceded by a bump or what appears to be a rash in that area, it may be erythema nodosum, which is an extra intestinal manifestation of UC.

If AZ means azathioprine it might be that, bruising is a possible side effect. I took 6mp years back (similar to aza) and had bruising on legs, nothing extreme but quit because it didn't help and other side effects for me were worse, such as dizziness.

Aspirin is a known blood thinner and causes bruising in me too so I never take it. Recent study says low-dose aspirin that some people take daily is not recommended.

yes AZ means azathioprine. whenever i accidentally hit myself against something it appears
