Oral mesalamine timeframe

Hey all! Just wondering how long it took for oral mesalamine to start working? I’ve been on suppositories for this stubborn proctitis and this is my first go at oral mesalamine. Aside from a little IBS (when I have to go I gotta go) I haven’t noticed any side effects. It’s been only 1 week though. What has been your experience? Thank you!

I'd expect an initial response to oral mesalamine in 2-4 weeks. A remission might take a month or more longer. Mesalamines are great but not instantaneous. There's absolutely no instant-gratification with this illness.

Just proctitis. I am on 1g rectal and 2.4g po daily. Rectal mesalamine has never put me in remission. I used the uceris previously but this hasn’t done anything for this unbelievably stubborn flare.
