Have you changed your diet? Do you eat gluten, dairy and sugars? I would definitely cut out all of that for 2 months and watch if/what changes and report back.
Also do you take any probiotics? Our western medicine is great for treating the symptoms but not so good for dealing with root cause. Root cause is unbalanced microbiota in our guts, so we should work to restore balance and hopefully then completely heal or at least lower the symptoms.
Kind regards!
I've tried adjusting my diet. I tried eliminating a bunch of stuff a couple years ago for a couple months without any changes. It was mostly a low fodmap diet with a few extra things eliminated. This really only resulted in added stress. I like to eat and I eat healthy but meticulously keeping track of/restricting what I eat is not good for my mental health. There are certain foods that I mostly avoid when I'm flaring that consistently seem to make symptoms worse (alcohol, dairy, fried/fatty foods, raw veggies) but that doesn't stop the flare, just makes symptoms more bearable.
I tried probiotics for a while but eventually got out of the habit. I guess it's hard to stay motivated to continue with supplements when you don't see any clear improvements from them. I should probably give it a go again, now that you mention it.
