I’m traveling through Israel now and there is not much I can do about it. Here is what is happening. I’m almost pooping in my pants every 90 minutes. The urgency is such that I have to bend over to hold it in until I get to the bathroom. Then everything explodes. Liquid diarrhea and then tons, I mean tons, of gas. I hardly ever have a real bowel movement. Abdomen is hard and distended. I’ve posted already that I’ve been comstipated since my colonoscopy prep on sept 14 unable to go. This is something that has piled on. I don’t exactly remember this constellation of symptoms. Used to more diarrhea when flaring. I’ve switched to 7 night a week enemas. When I get home I’m going to add Canasa am and increase my lialda to 4 a day. See GI on the 30th.
Question to all you UCers. Do you think I’m flaring? Or is this a manifestation of comstipation?

You invited guesses so this is mine: The "constipation" you had earlier was the stage of a flare that precedes the pooping every 90 minutes stage you are in now. So my guess is it's a flare, but again I stress it is just a guess.

Makes a lot of sense Serenity Now. I thought the 2 day colonscopy prep caused the constipation. Threw my system off But I’m open to new ideas. Thank you for responding so quicklyLooking forward to hearing from others.

Constipation is sometimes tenesmus, which is from inflammation. I don't know what you were dealing with exactly though. I am so sorry. Going that often and having little control does sound like a flare, but perhaps you've eaten something? How long has it been going on? I hope you improve so you can enjoy the remainder of your trip.

When did you notice the abrupt change from when using the laxative suppositories?

This isnt a result of the prep months afterward....I'm with Serenity on this one, especially after reading your past posts since the scope.
You never did mention the results of the biopsies.

When did you leave for Isreal, how long will you be there, and what and how much medication exactly do you have?

I stopped eating bread for whatever reason. Everything I eat seems to cause the problem. The laxative suppositories didn’t work so I stopped them pretty quickly. When I put my feet up and rock and breathe more stool comes out but not much. The gas smells horrendous

The biopsies showed minimal uc. Gi was pleased. I’ve been in Israel a week. I have enough nightly enemas but just my 2 lialda a day. No Canasa on me. Back on 24th. See gi on 30th. He is very good.

Can you increase the lialda to see if that helps? Can you buy canasa OTC there?

Nssg. Waiting to get home. I have vast amounts of Canasa. Situation is liveable (sort of)

It's possible you have a stomach bug, have gotten C Diff, or are flaring. Without labwork results, it is very unclear which of those it actually is. Sorry, that sucks! Did you pack any prednisone or anything else for emergencies within your baggage?

Foul smelling gas could be c diff (or other infection), i guess you don't really have time to test that over there...can you manage a long haul flight home? Moreover, if you have an infectious colitis is it fair to infect other people on the plane?

Foul smelling gas is from too much poop inside I believe

A stool test is definitely a good idea. I hope you can get things calmed so you can at least enjoy your trip. When you get back, request stool tests, including calprotectin.

There may be immunocompromised or elderly patients on the flight. I am afraid of doing long haul flights for exactly this reason, i.e. picking up a severe infection (I'm immunocompromised). I've done a couple of long hauls while flaring, it's not fun when you cannot get to the toilet easily because of a queue or turbulence or during takeoff/landing

Back to normal now. Had a great trip.

Gotten really regular. Guess it took time to get re-balanced after colonoscopy prep.
Don't have to use squatty potty as doctor suggested. Things are working well with Miralax daily.
