I had a similar response from brussels sprouts once during a flare a few years ago. Soooooo much gas and gut pain. Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, and cauliflower are notoriously gaseous, especially raw. I can tolerate them in decent amounts when not in a flare, though I stay away from raw. But I haven't eaten brussels sprouts since that day, lol!
I'm currently flaring as well - so far just in the rectal area, a little blood, mucous, diarrhea, some urgency. I am not certain if it started from having a stressful couple of months (moved) or from antibiotics I had to take recently. But I'm treating it first with an additional level of anti-inflammatories. I am taking a double dose of qing dai, probiotics, and being sure to take turmeric/curcumin daily as well. I had gotten irregular with both qing dai and turmeric because I didn't really need them for a long time. Qing dai is a Chinese medicine (I know, I know) and is really the dye indigo - it's the weirdest thing I've ever taken, but it does seem to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. I just get it in capsule form off Amazon.
I think I'll probably look at my diet next if things don't calm down for me in a few days - avoid all those inflammatory foods for a while. It has helped somewhat in the past, but never fully gotten me into remission.
Good luck - I hope you see improvement very quickly!! It is a difficult journey.
