A low residue diet is generally recommended for those of us flaring. As flares narrow the inside diameter of the intestines and leave them raw and bleeding, fiber is bulking and abrasive (two things that should never meet, ouch!). Alcohol and spicy pepper oils are inflamers and irritants so avoid for now. Caffeine can stimulate bowel movements in some of us, so trial avoid and see if it helps.
Yes, diets as a whole, and food triggers vary wildly among us. What's one's miracle diet, does nothing for another, and might make another's symptoms a whole lot worse. Diets and UC are super contradictary among us.
Avoid NSAID pain relievers (no aspirin, ibuprofen) and only take tylenol. As regular NSAID use can cause intestinal ulcers.
A hot water bottle on your lower abdomen, nor soak in a hot bath can give you temporary relief from bowel aches and pains.
You're going to need maintenance meds from your gasteroenterologist to heal you.
