Stool question and other concerns.

So, to sum it up, a little over a week ago I had a scope, results were a pretty inflamed colon with some ulcers and a 20 cm stricter. Didn’t see that one coming! Been in remission since 2016, no meds, no pain, just Tumeric and was doing fine till symptoms of a mild flare came on, hence, the scope. I was admitted to the hospital, IV steroids, antibiotics, Proctofoam, Rowasa Enema plus blood work, MRI and Cat Scan of chest (plans for Entivyo in the future). I have little pings of tenderness every once in a while but no PAIN or urgency. Dropped some weight like we do, am tired and a little weak/shaky from the Prednisone (how my body reacts) and luckily work from home so get a lot of rest, didn’t say sleep..that’s a joke in itself! LOL. I go to the GI, Aug 24th for follow up. Now while at home, been on Prednisone and Flagyl, Proctofoam in AM and Rowasa enema at night plus following a low residue diet. Am a bit concerned that I have seen blood in the stool. No, not a lot, just in stool not on TP and mostly after a big soft serve BM if that. So, since I have been on the meds just about a week and a half, thinking and hoping it will take some time for it to work THEN any blood will disappear? (Crossing fingers, eyes and whatever else that will help! LOL). Guessing the tender spots I feel after a BM may be where the ulcers are located? Sometimes it can last for a while and sometimes it goes away along with sort of a sore lower back. Should I be concerned or know this is part of the healing process and it will take time for the meds to work which I haven’t been on them long enough. HMMM. What are your thoughts?

Well, don’t know why but it is what they prescribed. LOL. Guess I got lucky…have had bad reactions in the past with colon meds so the one COLAZAL is what they thought gave me pancreatitis in 2018, hence, met my GI doc. and then asked in the follow up visit if we could try something natural and give my body a break so he said Tumeric. So, since actually, 2016 haven’t been in a flare till now. Could have been stress that screwed up my colon (this last year was bad at home for several reasons, COVID, husband and I lost our jobs, tons of fighting, you see the pattern) so very well could have caused the wrecked colon. So, my bad…had to confirm with the office today, only a Cat Scan was done and chest X-ray to get ready for the Entivyo infusions.

IPoop-Didn’t make it last night holding the enema in-shoot! Got in three hours. Been doing well most days 6 hours on average but did of course lay there on my left side, over an hour so hopefully, some medicine did it’s job. Try again tonight.

Yes, that’s what I am thinking, I need time to heal but any sight of blood is alarming to me. No, not bright red but darker and not a lot. Just the healing process? Shouldn’t all the Prednisone, Proctofoam and nightly enema stop any blood by now? Been almost two weeks since I was in the hospital and on this medicine.

HMM? Maybe, I am being a bit over concerned and just monitor like I do in a journal and then say something on my follow up on the 24th of this month? Your thoughts…TU again for any advice. Have a blessed day!
