Been a long time since I've been here....

Still doing well with my jpouch, figured out timing mostly and what I can and shouldn't eat. Still have issues with hemmy's but that also depends on what I eat and drink. Usual days are going between 5-7 times and can hold if I really need to for 1-3 hours (though that can get really uncomfortable). All in all, quality of life is phenomenal. Went on my honeymoon to South Africa last year no issues, didn't even think twice about it.

Had a small bout of something where I'd have up to 2 accidents a night, quick course of antibiotics (ciprofloxacin & flagyl + stuff for oral thrush) and everything cleared up. Saw a new surgeon since I moved cities and he did a scope in November said I don't need to see him for another 5 years, everything looks great.

Hope everyone else is doing great as well! If worst comes to worst, a jpouch may not be the end of the world!

Hey!!! I remember you!! Glad things are going well for you. No meds.... I envy that. It's good to hear of a success story.

I had hoped that if worse came I'd have a jpouch... But they added Crohn's onto my plate... so I ended up with a colostomy. I gotta say--it's not bad. Much better than I thought it would be. So if there are others out there that have to have surgery remember surgery is not bad. There are good success stories out there!

Really glad to see you back here. There are still so many lurkers reading and researching. Hopefully your post will help some of them. Thanks for coming back and checking in.

Hi Clo and Bull. Always Nice to see some positive results with surgery. Bull when did u have your surgery?? I had my 3 surgeries in 2018 and am doing very well now. My J Pouch doing great. On a workday I go 2-3-4 x a day. Days off a little more. No more does UC hold me hostage. Many on here have fear of surgery which I understand. I chose not to go on any more meds after 32 yrs of UC. Colon wasn't in great shape and surgeon and my Gastro both agreed surgery was good way to go. Surgery recovery took weeks but well worth it. Hope the best for you all. Be well😊

Thanks for the warm response! I had a 2 step in September & November of 2016. Funnily enough surgery changed my life, I again felt alright going out, met my wife that December and have been together ever since. Without surgery, may have never met her.

I have been dating since divorce in 2019. Couldn't date with UC. Not many want to deal with a person with a chronic disease. Surgery gave me my life back. In a great relationship for last 6 months. Surgeon was top notch. Happy for u. God bless and stay well

Bull and 3X...your posts about surgery and finding your special someone touched my heart. Surgery is a difficult decision. You both are warriors.

I’m pretty new here, but I just wanted to chime in and thank you for sharing your story. It helps to hear the good side of things too when so many of us come her because we’re struggling. I’m so happy for your happiness!
