VSL #3 DS tastes horrible

I mix mine with plain Greek yogurt, approximately 1/4 cup thinned with enough soy milk to make it drinkable and stir in the packet. I don't need it to be any sweeter. The soy milk seems to sweeten it for me. I think it would also be possible to make it into a smoothie and disguise the taste with banana for the youngster who has to have it. My heart goes out to the child and her parents.

I must have a different flavor too. I mix mine with as small amount of water on purpose so the flavor isn't diluted. Tastes delicious to me, almost milkshake-y

Yogurt works well for me as well as orange juice. Has anyone seen the thread on using VSL3 in enemas?--some reports of good results prompted me to try it this week, and I really wasn't expecting much. But I was completely surprised that a three month's long flare (proctitis) disappeared overnight--the very first night, so I repeated with a second infusion the second night. This seemed too good to be true, so I repeated a second night. This is the 3rd morning in a row now I have woken up amazed and really kind of puzzled how I could be symptom-free so quickly. For those who have trouble tolerating the taste of VSL3, this could be route to try before giving up altogether. I was gearing up to try a fecal transplant with my husband as the donor if this flare didn't go away in a few weeks when it occurred to me maybe doing a similar thing with VSL3 could help, so I looked it up on Google and found others with mostly good results. Please pass the word that this is something to look into.

I have been taking VSL#3 DS for a couple of weeks. I dread it everyday because it tastes so incredibly nasty. I tried mixing it with the only juice I had on hand - cranberry apple. I don't recommend it unless you are fond of the taste vomit leaves in your mouth. No joke! Lemonade and apple sauce didn't cut it either. Last night I was desperate to find something that might mask the taste so I used the only other liquid in my fridge: Sangria. Bad Bad Bad! Since I still haven't been to the store, my only option tonight was repeating the sangria or opening another bottle of cranberry apple juice. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead, I dumped the VSL into a little bit of water and added some drops of vanilla. It worked! I could barely tell it was in there. Instead of being nasty it was actually good. Give it a try and see what you think.

These posts crack me up. I take other probiotics besides vsl too and i purposely open all the capsules into the water because the taste is amazing. Its like my treat and i take them at three different times so i can feel like im eating candy all day.

Benebiotics are on par with vsl in the taste category. A little more bacteria-like flavor which i love.

Am I the only one who thinks that VSL #3 DS powder tastes really bad? Or does anybody else find this to be the case? I tried 1/2 packet for the first time last night, and the first thing I noticed when I opened was that it didn't smell very good. I mixed it with Gatorade (G2), the same thing I usually mix my Free and Clear Metamucil powder with except for the VSL I made sure the Gatorade was cold. It didn't seem like it disolved all the way and I could definitely taste it in there. It was not good.


Does anybody else have this issue? What do you mix it with?

I have some iron water pouches that taste like old plumbing. Just dont breathe through your nose. Are you after a remedy or culinary delight ?

VSL3 is great, I put it in oats-n-whey all the time.

Every try psyllium seed powder - tastes like dirt but is very effective and that is what matters.

I agree guy - real men eat dirt and don't cry about it ( maybe whine a bit tho)

So glad I found this thread - I was able to drink my VSL#3 DS on the first day, but couldn't finish it on the second day.

After reading this, I went and bought some kefir, and, while it doesn't dissolve completely, and is kinda weird drinking chunks, at least I can't taste it.

After I finish all the kefir I bought, I'm going to try milk - hopefully it covers the taste as well as kefir, and dissolves better *fingers crossed*

I wanted to try VSL but it's too expensive for me.
