I'm 18 and Sick of being sick

Read some of the forums on Dragonpack.com or even on this site. Could be much worse. Some children start at 2 or 3 years. My daughter was diagnosed this year at 12.  

This happened to us:

I took my daughter for an upper Endo. at the hospital. While we were waiting and she was complaining about another test...why me...everything happens to me...I dont want to do this........etc. A little girl came in with leukemia -no hair, holding a bed pan to be sick in, and in a baby stroller, she looked to be about 10 years old. My daughter quickly decided maybe she didnt have it really bad.

They say god only gives you what you can handle.

This is a terrible disease. But.... you have company.

I thought the same thing.. I was diagnosed when I was 18, the best years of my life(supposedly), and I had to go through this while in it? It takes a while, and I still have those days when I think of Why Me, although few and far between now after surgery. My advice is really focus on the good things in your life. Having this sickness has made me appreciate life, friends, and the people I love so much more.

I am so sorry to hear what you're going through at such a young age. You are absolutely right, you're at an age when you should be having the time of your life. And you know what? Don't let the disease get you down. A very famous person (Winston Churchill) once said, "Never, never, never give up."

Please look at life like the proverbial glass of water that is "half full" versus being half empty. Yes, you will need to take precautions in your young life but that doesn't mean you still can't live as much of a normal young adult life as possible. Make sure you see your life as "half full" instead of the more negative "half empty." Take care of yourself by eating right and exercising and doing everything else that your doctors need you to do. But at the same time be you. Live life as you want to. Think about reaching out to others who are less fortunate than you by serving them in some way. And be happy! And never give up.

Ya?? I don't know what the original poster wrote but I'm getting an idea of what it was about so I'll add my 2 cents...

I don't think there's any good age to get a horrid disease like this, but it's definitely worse the younger you are when you get it, especially because it is a chronic life-long disease.

sorry, I tried to edit it but ended up erasing it. Sorry! It just basically said that I am sick of being sick and that I am only 18. I shouldn't have to deal with it. I just asked how to keep myself positive.
