i used to work for a Patient Assistance Program (before I lost my job and health insurance too), and whenever patients would call in we would let them know about these two websites:
rxassist.org
needymeds.com
you can look up most medications on there and find out how to contact their PAPs. I don't know how they all run, but the one I worked for specifically did not advertise the program, so sometimes you need to really search them out. There can also be a lot of bureaucracy and red tape and it can seem a lot to go though, but just don't give up. Call often to check the status of your application, because that is the way to get it processed the fastest. If you get denied, send a letter of appeal to the manager of the program. And make sure you fill out the forms thoroughly and correctly. I'd say about 90% of the applications we got in were not complete, and that would delay the patient's meds by several weeks to several months.
my new insurance company has denied everything to do with my UC, so now I'm in the same boat as you too (kind of ironic). I may even be forced to apply to programs at the company I used to work at. Its stressing me out knowing that my former co-workers might know all of my personal financial and medical information. (I know there are HIPPA laws, but still...)
