Just wanted to pass along something that I think may have helped me. My neighbor went to her acupuncturist the other day and was inquiring about
help with UC (she goes for migraines) and her acupunturist suggested that I try miso soup, to ease the inflammation. As of yesterday morning, I was still having blood and d and went probably 6-8 times in the morning and I did have 3-4 trips from noon to evening. I drank a cup of this miso soup last night and for the first time in 2 weeks (when my flare started), I did not wake up in the middle of the night having to go at all, and this morning I had no blood whatsoever. I still have d, but I have only visited the bathroom 2 times. That IS an improvement! I am slowly adding fiber back today.
When I started flaring, I started using Canasa, and I think psychologically, I thought it was helping me, but after skipping a night (my kids kept getting me up in the night), I felt better the next day...not great, but better. I skipped it again last night for the 2nd night and I was much better.
So, I'm not sure if the miso soup helped, or if stopping the Canasa helped, but I thought I would share my experiences. Sometimes these drugs worsen our symptoms and I am thinking that is what happened with me and Canasa. I was only on it for 9 days.
Normally, I am not one to deviate much from regular meds, but I figured a little vegetable broth wouldn't hurt. It tasted fine too!
Anyway, it was a soothing drink...
