thanks for the point of view but to say something is foolish when there isnt a cure for the problem doesnt help just makes it a whole lot worse
maybe i am foolish but if i think it helps isnt that a good thing
on a more friendly thought what do u take?
You being so new I'll cut you some slack. :) I'm a LONG time veteran of UC and think I have an exceptional handle on the various types of UC and what has been working and not working from hanging out on these varous boards for so many years plus all my trials.
I'm a stickler for proof when someone says something and I like to see medical references or something similar to back up theories and suggested treatment protocols. So many people have to wade through a mountain of misinformation and opinions on how to treat this disease that it becomes almost a futile endeavor to discuss it at any length with anyone without including some factual references from credible sources like medical research. When I say that taking antiboitic type supplement's in hopes that it will help treat UC in some small way just shows me that they are a newbie is all. We all were once. Antibiotics have been tried for decades without any success. Some people have taken flagyl but it was never intended as a long term treatment. Your better approach is to reinforce the mucus barrier in the colon via phospholipid manipulation to keep the bad bugs from crossing over to the colon wall. You won't need antibiotics if this is a priority. I say so because I have picture proof of this concept I can show you but you can dig up the references here on healingwell yourself as I have posted it before in the past. Plus I place high value on fiber supplements to keep up a high production of butyrate in the colon. It is very therapeutic and anti carcinogenic to the colon wall. You should also look into incorporating antioxidants into your diet as you will find that asacol and similar drugs work along these lines as well albeit further down in the sigmoid. Dark chocolate and beans and other resistant starches along with select supplements will get you on your way to healing. However you must dial in your diet pretty tight to get all this working together in harmony for maximum effect. There are many other suggestions I could make but I have to make this short.
