Why does the morning suck so bad???

Why is it that I (and many of you, I'm sure) have to be in the bathroom all morning? I have to run back and forth to the bathroom while I'm getting ready. Does anybody know why? Just curious...

I **think** it is b/c our intestines are in a restful state at night. Once we get up and moving around the ole colon and intestines get fired up so to speak! Hopefully someone can give you a more technical answer!

I also spend all morning back and forth to the bathroom.  I plan to get up 2 hours before I have to go anywhere.  I always just assumed it was from laying down all night and having things build up.  I also just assumed that while flaring its just something I have to deal with, but maybe if I knew a better answer as to why it could help in how to resolve it.

yes it is new for me.......my new bm's are 3 to 6 times before I leave the house then I am okay then 1 to 2 during the day and 1 or 2 when I get home and very new is when I get up for my 3am pee I have to go then too.

The "new" is stopping maint drugs on 9/6 and taking pred only for my UC since 9/7.

Yes the mornings suck for me lately too, I get all cramped up and can't wait and have to go then have to go again and again and again, mostly blood and mucous. I spend most of my morning getting ready in the bathroom so at least it's convenient.

My normal bm's would occur every day at 10:30 am and maybe one before or after that. I miss that!

HAHA we are funny, maybe we should plan a 6AM chat?? With the understanding we may be in and out frequently!!!

Mornings are the worst for me, too. The urge to go usually happens before I even get out of bed. It's like, I wake up and a few seconds or minutes later I have to get up to go.

I am just happy I don't have to get up 8 times at night like I use to while in the flare up. It can always be worse, although I tend to agree 1 BM a day is ideal, but that's for those healthy people. Let's get healthy, people:)

Yep, like Tabitha said, while you sleep so is your colon *supposedly!*. Once you get up and moving, it activates the colon to start producing. Which in our cases our colons are over achievers! I still have rough mornings even while in remission. I know it's because I drink coffee, it helps stimulate me to go but I don't have that painful urgency like when I'm flaring. It's just more of "Crap! I gotta go!" and casually walk to the bathroom, not running at break neck speed.

Thanks guys! I'm in the college dorms so the bathrooms are down the hall. I am probably funny to watch walking incredibly fast down the hall in the morning :)

I have the same experience that everyone is speaking of. I relate to you sara....Within minutes of opening my eyes I have to get out of bed. It's wierd b/c I dont even have to move around, its just about being awake and alert!!!

OMG I saw the title to this post and was immediately thinking it was about me!! Lately, my problems have only been in the morning. I have had at least 3 accidents in my car on the way to work in the past two weeks. It's driving me crazy!!!! I don't think colazal is working so I'm going to contact my dr and ask about other avenues. I swear it's like I go to the bathroom in and out in the morning...then i am walking out the door feeling a bit better...get to my car...start it...and BAM have to run back in the house again....then im fighting myself trying to get to work which is only literally 4 minutes away from my house...i just keep repeating to myself.. this is your only pair of pants...soil these and you dont have more to go home and change into ... (dont have but one pair of khakis for work uniform) moneys tight. Even with the head games..sometimes it doesnt work and i end up goin home. It sucks...and I got written up for being late more than once during this week at work...UGH!! Talk about depressing.

sweetmelody read your comments there and thought of my own traumas too
getting to work in itself is such a major part of my day too its like im having to turn into superwoman to achieve getting there in one piece

still could be worse i keep telling myself

keep smiling its only body fluids afterall :)

why do you think I wear one of my daughters pull-ups practically every time I go out?!?!?! And even then, I end up pulling over to the side of the road & letting go. Thankfully I live in a somewhat rural area. My commute is about 20 minutes tops & that is way too long during a bad flare. It's so embarassing to use the diaper deal, but I figure it's better than nothing between me & my pants! And I swear it does give you peace of mind, which makes it easier to avoid an accident. At least it's worked for me so far.

Mornings are bad for most crohnies as well, although my one friend that has crohns is fine until the early evening, she's an oddball eh.

i guess there is no explanation

i used to think it was because i am not eating my frequent small meals and drinking - all the things that seem to keep me settled. i always felt like i had to get some food in me before stuff would settle, not sure if this is why

This is what I love about this site, people who have the same problems I do!  Mornings are terrible for me as well.  As soon as my eyes open it is like a signal to my colon saying, "oh, she's awake, let's make her hurry up, get out of bed and go to the bathroom in a mad dash."

i have been studying some Eastern alt medicine and one thing they said I should do is sleep on my left side, something about having the right nostril breathing warmer air. but what that actually does is make gravity make everything flow to the descending colon. so when I wake up I have to run immediateley (more like it wakes me up). however if i sleep on my right side, i  can take my time a littlle
