I'm a C.Diff Survivor. it was very painful; much worse than a UC flare. And the smell was awful.
One of the easiest ways to get C.diff is by taking Anti-biotics.

I got to thinking - I know - scary! - but I wonder if this is true because as IBDers we're "used" to having D, etc and they let the infection progress further than a non-IBDer would???

Now they tell me. I just got over a case of C. difficile about
1 ½ months ago. I really didn’t feel any different. The only difference was that I went from 8 or 9 BMs per day to 5 or 6 after treatment.

To Paul L,
Could it be that you weren't responding to anything because of the C difficile this whole time?

Horus, I’m sorry I didn’t reply sooner but we went away for the long weekend. Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day here in Canada.
No I do not think that C. difficile had any effect on me not responding to any treatments. Because I was in two different clinical studies over the last two years I have been tested for C. difficile and other things many many times. about
2 months ago was the first and only time it came back positive. In fact for my current study I am tested just before every treatment. My doctor and I have determined that a round of antibiotics I took for an infection unrelated to UC last May and June was most likely the cause of my C. difficile. At that time I was off all UC meds until I entered the current study a month ago.
