I solved my problem:
So my Aunt Sandy (mother's sister) is also a "ginger" like my mother and I - they both get cold sores and mouth ulcers as does my dad (fair skin). I was talking to my mother and she said she, "every time I drink orange juice I'll end up getting one". I stopped taking multi-vitamins and limited orange and grapefruit juice (mom also said only eat 1/2 an orange and 1/2 banana at most and not daily).
I haven't had a cold sore or mouth ulcer since. She shared that info with Aunt Sandy and no more for her either.
My daughter has olive skin and got them so I right away told her to stop taking the tasty, gummy, fruity multi-vitamins and her mouth ulcers stopped. She stopped drinking orange juice and her friend's as well.
That prescript
ion for Valtrex is not required for me anymore (yea!)
I know mouth ulcers are supposed to be different from cold sores or fever blisters (inner mouth, cheek, tongue versus outer lip) but all mine stopped - could it be the Imuran and Remicade (maybe combination)
My mother says every once in a while she'll drink a gin and tonic w/ lime and then gets that tingle (pre-cold sore/fever blister) so she'll use Abreva right away and it never comes.
Told Aunt Sandy all this and all her sores stopped.
For what it's worth my friends.
