Sorry it took me a couple of days to get back to you guys about my GI appt. ~~~ My doctor said that my blood count is good. But he did tell me that i have IBS also. Just great news huh. Well nothing surprises me anymore when i go.  But i haven't had blood in my stools in a week so something got to be working. He of course put me on 3 new meds and took me off one.  I also have had a bad pap come back and my obgyn did 2 test so far in a month.  I'll get the results back on Monday hopefully.  Do you think because i'm on so many meds that, thats why i've had a bad pap?  thanky you guys

I definitely think that the medicines can cause abnormal paps... I was on prednisone and a few other things and I got an abnormal pap, and then I had to have the colposcopy (cervical biopsy) and it came back with mild (but non-cancerous and non-HPV related) dysplasia. And then when I had the follow-up pap I was off some of the meds (and off the pred) and it came back normal.

So I definitely believe that probably the prednisone influenced it. Why not? It messes everything else up.

Great to hear your UC is improving.

What exactly were the results of the pap....abnormal in what way?

I do agree that meds (and probably the pred since it's a synthetic hormone and will influence your hormoneal balance) can influence the readings...but the consistency is something that says you have to be diligent and them done much more often.

The dysplasia...not a reading to take lightly...and should be retested to make sure that the readings of "normal" is consistent.

Thank you guys ~~~ quincy, they said it came back for a chance of cancer but they did a cervical biopsy and i'll find out on Monday. so well see. Thank you guys

Good they did the biopsy...it would have been a punch biopsy. If you have any cells that are questionable at the borders, they'll do what's called a cone biopsy.

Ask the questions....please....and get a copy of your report for sure. Know whether the results are abnormal, dysplasia or hyperplasia.
