I've found that starting about 7-10 days prior to my infusions of Remicade, I start experiencing loose bowels and slight bleeding; it stops within 1-2 days after the infusion, though.

Anyone else experience this?

The only time I had any loosening was when I got so busy I was about ten days late on my infusion. I do know some people are on a six-week schedule, so you might want to discuss this with your GI.

I notice things loosening up a few days to a week before my infusions, but no bleeding. My GI has suggested that I can switch to 7 weeks if necessary, but I don't have any blood or anything during that time. If I did, I'd go ahead and switch to every 7 weeks.

A good friend of mine who suffers from Crohn's Disease experiences a similar progressio of her symptoms towards the last week before her next infusion. I am plaaning on beginning Remicade treatment for my UC as soon as possible, and I will update this thread as my experiences develop. I'm hoping Remicade will provide the answer I've been looking for.

jamo: When I read in your signature that you're scarfing down fruits and vegetables, it makes me jealous! I think I'm going to go murder a huge salad right now, I don't care how sick I get from it :-)

My celebration after my fourth Remicade infusion was a Cobb salad for lunch. But I still eat things like that maybe once a week rather than every day. Even before I had UC symptoms, too much fiber could give me cramping and D.

What's a Cobb salad?

Cobb salad is a bit like chef salad. It has diced tomatoes, avocado, bleu cheese, hard boiled egg and sometimes bacon crumbles arranged on a big bed of mixed greens. It's one of those meal salads. I love them, and hadn't had one for more than four years.

Thanks all. I'll try to catch my doc this Friday and ask him about trying a 7-week rotation (I didn't know such things existed).

I hope all of you guys are doing alright; I've been bad about not coming back to the board since I went into remission this summer.

If you're having troubles, keep you head up; UC is tough, but you can beat it!

NEVER settle for anything less than complete remission...
