Question about Remicade ,,,could it be working

Hello all

I have had my third infusion this month and i am still going to the bathroom alot
still get that cramping pain ....but my BM's are more formed ,,,and i have not seen any blood in about 3 months ....i use to bleed all the time ,,,could it be working slowly ...i have been in a flare for a year ?

That's how it's working for me too ... just had my 4th infusion and I've pretty much been a flare of varying intensity since diagnosis. I've never really had any stomache pain with my UC, but lots of blood, mucus and extreme urgency, like about 2 seconds notice that I had to get to a bathroom. Since the Remicade I've had no blood, still a lot of bathroom trips, but fairly well-formed BMs and I don't spend my ENTIRE morning running to the bathroom any more. Some people on the boards have told me they didn't get full effects until after their 5th or 6th infusion, so I hoping for more improvement. I still am having trouble getting off the Prednisone though. After my 2nd infusion I was almost off, had tapered to 5 mg every other day, but the 3rd infusion never really worked and after being quite ill for a couple of months I listened to my GIs advice to pop back up to 40 mg for a little while. He's going to start my taper again after the holidays. So hang in there, if you're seeing some improvement especially, give it a bit more time.

Yes, it took awhile before that spasming effect went away. I still get it every so often though. Here's a tip: eat smaller meals throughout the day. I find when I eat big meals, I tend to go more often. The smaller meals seem to digest better and I don't get that feeling of having to go. It took me a while to figure myself out, but I think I have it down pretty well now. I used to have what I called "dump days" about every three days when I still went a lot, but now I go just twice a day at the most and formed bms...no blood. So I think you are on the right track.

Sounds like it could be working for you, I had to reduce my intake of Asacol to get to where I am today, I don't know if colazol is the same way, but you might ask your GI about that.
