Hi. I am starting - finally! - to no longer have blood when I use the bathroom, which makes me think I am headed towards remission (fingers crossed!). I do still have some urgency, and still probably have about
4-5 BMs/day, or maybe even 6 right now. so, for those of you in remission, I am just wondering, how many times a day to you have a BM? thanks! (the questions we UC-ers ask eachother, huh....??? crazy...)

Well where else can you ask such questions!? :) I'm in remission and go once sometimes twice a day with no urgency.

Once or twice a day, no urgency, well-formed. Bonus points if you get on a steady schedule. My time to go is usually first thing in the morning.

0-3 times a day. My consistency depends on how many Colazal I am taking. 9 and it is mushy, 6 and it is firm. Glad you are feeling better!

I go once or twice in the morning and sometimes once in the afternoon. So my answer is 2 to 3 times a day. It sure is nice not bleeding though!!!

1-2 times a day, depending on quantity of food consumed the previous day - if it was a lot, then three wouldn't be out of the question.
Usually formed and firm.

Once a day, pretty much like clockwork in the morning (no coffee involved!)
That's the same as before I had UC.

My GI told me that three or more times per day isn't good, and three or fewer times per week isn't good.

Once (or twice a day depending on what/how much I've eaten) about
an hour after I've gotten up is norm for me. No urgency/pain in rectum, formed stool.
Of course that has changed as of today....sigh....I'm back to urgency, 5 bms and white-knuckling pain upon bms. Chills for two days and an external hemorrhoid were the first symptoms. Oh well...I missed using the enemas nightly..haha!

I go every other day, just like how it was before I starting having problems a million years ago.

Three to four times a day. That sounds like a lot, but much better than the 15-25 times I went for several years before Remicade.

Hubby is still going more than he should be going especially after reading all the above posts. Overall though in comparison to where he was he feels so much better and very rarely has to "fly" to the bathroom. The urgency is under better control and can go out freely and now exercise without any fear of a possible accident. I guess when he gets it down to 2 or 3 BM's a day he will be in much better shape. After today's pickelball he had an incredible pain free BM which was the highlight of his day....lol. Doesn't take much to make us happy over here...lol.
(For now we'll take what we got. At least we are back in the social sense with friends and activities.)

thanks for all the replies. now, another related question - did it take awhile for the urgency to pass?? that is a lingering symptom for me, and I am hoping it will pass soon....
reading your responses has reminded me to be hopeful. many thanks to all of you.

Up until about
a week ago I was in a bout a 2 month remission, and would go once in the morning, and sometimes again in the evening after dinner.

Urgency is usually the second symptom to pass for me. Blood disappears first, then the urgency.

I'm headed toward remission too. 0 to 3 times is about
right for me, though typically I go twice in the morning before I leave the house.....not sure why, it's like c'mon cant you all come out at the same time! (yes a conversation w/my bum). And sometimes I will have to go in the afternoon. My last remission it was clockwork, every day at 10:30 I would 'drop all the kids off in the pool'.
I still have some urgency, I know I can hold it but it hurts to hold and I got a hemi when I held it too long before, so I am nervous to hold it. Haven't had blood in two weeks now (knock on wood!).

I've been in remission for about
6 months or so (I define that as no bleeding or urgency). I go about
3 times per day.

Beth75 - funny, I usually go twice in the AM also, often within 20 minutes. and then maybe won't go rest of day. for what it is worth, I usually have that same conversation with my bum that you're describing...
