Typical, they can do this but they cannot completely cure all IBD sufferers.

Probably not. One can have a very good quality of life without a colon but one cannot have a very good quality of life without a stomach.

Actually this article is about
replicating the stomach, not so much to replace it, but to study it: looking at how it breaks down food and adjusting the pH. Absorbing nutrients is key with IBDers and hopefully this kind of research will be fruitful.
Maybe with a colon, they could replicate ulcerations and adjust bacteria levels... who knows?!
