Hi all,
I've been on 3g of sulfasalazine and 1g of Canasa for about two years now and was in remission on it. For the past week, though, I've noticed a lot of mucous and a bit of blood on the toilet paper :-( Was hoping it was only holiday stress, but am definitely getting worried now and plan on setting up an appt with my GI on Monday. I'm wondering if maybe the sulfa just isn't working for me anymore? This happened to me with Asacol when I first started using that med. It worked for about a year, than unexplainable stopped, so my GI put my on the sulfa. Does this happen often with the drugs?! and if my GI puts me on Colazal, is it like Asacol or sulfa? I've been trying to find some info on where Colazal is release in the colon and other info, but I've been having a hard time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
