Bowl Incontinence Question

Has anyone experienced Bowl Incontinence where your bowl movement was mostly solid not loose. Gross question I know but I am curious if this is normal for UC'ers or might I have other problems besides the UC?

When was your last c-scope? (for indication of problems) If the present meds are getting at the UC inflammation you have more solid stools, but why incontinence? Could it be spasms pushing out the stool? Do you feel a strong push downward when it happens? Levsin (anti-spasmodic pill that dissolves under the tongue) helped me get over that in my early stage of treatment for severe left-sided flare. It really gave me blessed relief. In your case it sounds like you should discuss the problem with gastro to find out whether any additional med would be helpful/appropriate. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)

Well even with having crohns-colitis (CD affecting the colon) I've had accidents with firm stools, they don't only happen with having D, it has to do with loss of total bowel control, not being able to hold back stool in any form, solid or loose...unfortunately it seems to be the nature of the beast...I do kegal exercises now and (knocking on wood) havn't had an accident in a long time (of course the natural products I take help too) but still, when I feel "it" comming I know I only have moments to get to a toilet or it's out of me...and it really is depressing...especially since I do have formed stools.

I don't know old hat...the skin tags are directly on the outside of my anus (like my anus is turned inside out kinda) and they banded them during that procedure when they thought it was hemheroides that I had, so I'm not exactly sure what the procedure entailed...but it wouldn't surprise me if your right about the nerve damage as a result...however I was already having issues with holding it in properly/normally when I felt an urge even before the mistaken surgery so it's always led me to believe that issue comes from it being the nature of the beast in the world of IBD.

It could be a combination of both though, I'm sure that stupid surgery did not help things...well I know it didn't, at least before when the skin tags would appear, they would completely disappear as well (shrinking back down to nothing) on their own, now since the surgery they have remained it a flare, always there, large and usually hard...and have never shrunk down, even a little, ever since that dreaded surgery.

I get it a lot - cant figure out if its in my head, or its the UC.  I get severe panic attacks, convulsion ssometimes because of the anxiety.  It is the worst thing about my UC so far.
