Back on Prednisone...

Well, the bleeding is way worse today...Dr put me on prednisone...40 for 4 then 30 for 4 etc..Hope it works, I get scoped on Wed yippie...

Aww Lori, I'm sorry to hear that! Hmm maybe this will get your bleeding to stop and you can get better - hopefully? I'm wishing you luck on your scope - is it a flex sig or cscope?

flex in the office... Is 40m for 4 days about average dosage?

Lori - Hang in there! I have a love/hate relationship with Pred. It works so well for me that I feel better in days, but I hate some of the side effects. To answer your question, yes, 40 mg is an average dose. I have taken Pred three separate times and have always started at 40 mg.

I had to go on Pred once in the 1990s for a severe left-sided flare. My gastro started it at 40 mg daily with a comment that 60 mg daily is the maximum permissible dose. Good luck with the scope & hope the med helps you quickly. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)
