Doesn't say much that wouldn't be the same for any ailment I don't think.

What meds in particular is the point I wonder?

Overall, using any medication to treat Crohn's disease cut the risk of death by 10 percent. However, the effect varied with individual medications. For instance, use of aminosalicylate, a popular drug for the disease, reduced the risk by 30 percent, whereas use of drugs that altered the immune response increased the risk by 30 percent."

I think it's pretty obvious that just trying to supress your whole immune system to take care of one problem will eventually lead to more problems, and increased death rate.

I've been off medication for 1 year. Haven't put myself into remission yet, but neither did 7 years of those nasty drugs.

I have no side effects of any immune supressing drugs to worry about. I thought I had no side effects until I stopped it. Notice a big change in the way you feel day to day. Not to mention since I stopped relying on idiot doctors that are programmed to hand out certain  prescriptions like a candy store.. and started taking care of myself, I've been much better. Going to the bathroom less and feeling 200x better.

So, nothing new to me.
