uc symptoms without having uc?

just out of curiousity is it at all possible to have the symptoms w/o having the disease? cause I was thinking, when I'm not sitting at home all day and working etc... i have no symptoms and I'm completely healthy, eat what i want, drink what i want (alcohol)

so my question is , is it possible for some people to have the symptoms w/o having the disease? the symptoms could show up on the colonoscopy

There are other conditions that mimic UC...some with bleeding, some not.

IBS can mimic UC except no bleeding.

Some with UC don't match the amount of inflammation or visual symptoms in a colonoscopy...so, it's not necessarily a determining factor.

Eat and drink what you want....if you're having symptoms and it causes you discomfort, I would hope you stop.

Alcohol...moderation is the key....but remember that it's hard on the liver.

do you say its hard on the liver because of the uc or uc drugs? or just drinking in general is hard on the liver?

alcohol is particularly hard on the colon in general, let alone a diseased one.

Just found this on Asacol on a prescription meds Web site:
"Asymptomatic elevations of liver function tests have occurred in patients taking Asacol tablets. These elevations usually resolve during continued therapy or with discontinuation of Asacol. When any elevations in liver enzymes are assessed, it should be kept in mind that hepatic complications are frequently associated with inflammatory bowel disease."

It's kinda confusing...it sounds like liver problems can happen both from Asacol and from IBD itself.

Although 5ASA meds are "topical"...they are absorbed in a small amount through the colon into the bloodstream. Some cannot take any salicylates, and liver function can be hindered by salicylates.
Forgot to mention kidney functions as well.

But, UC related liver and kidney disease happens too...meds first or UC first? Add a med that can exacerbate it....not a good match.
