i have had up for 4 years now im 25 and i switched medicines about a month ago i was taking sulsalazine 500 mg 2 tabs 3 times a day and switched to canasa supposititories. when i first switched i was still taking the sulfasalazine and i had a flare up so stoped taking both medications for a week saw my doctor she wanted me to take a stool sample for parasites but i didnt take it. then i started taking the suppostitiories again and it seemed to help until now. Recently got a lot of snow here and was doing a lot of shoveling and think i got the flu. I had a 101 - 103 temp for about a week now and now my stomach seems to be all messed up again with a blood, urgency, and kinda like constipation. Im gonna stop taking the meds for a fews days and hope the whole flu thing goes away any advice

Hi..welcome to the forum.
You're talking "the flu" the respiratory virus influenza, correct? That's pretty nasty and can certainly set some of us back UC-wise if there's a flare pending or continuing, which is what seems to be the situation with you.
You should stay with your meds, not discontinue them....and you should actually be on both oral and rectal meds.
Can you not take Asacol? Maybe call the doc and request retention enemas rather than just the suppositories.
Is your UC thoughout or limited?

My uc is limited to the anus. I would love to take the enemas thing is i dont have insurance right now and thats why im taking canasa cause it was 100 bucks for 30 from canada pharm online. I took mesalamine 4g/60ml before and had the best results im gonna try to find that from canada at a resonable price. I just tryed to eat some white rice earlier and threw up bummer.

Hope you feel better soon...try to make sure you take in fluids. An antinausea med will help. I don't know what's available in the US.
