Menstrual irregularity- ? for women- duh?

Ladies-

 

 

Does prednisone or Remicade cause menstrual irregularity? My period has been sooo weird. I am currently 6 weeks late (not pregnant). Yeah- I am 42  and weird things start happening anyway, but could this be a side effect and if yes, what should I do?

Hey, I am only 17, but Im on prednisone for UC and have been quite irregular too, which is a change from before I was on it, so i would not be suprised if they were related.

When I was on pred my periods were also all over the place.  The doc said it could either be the pred or just the UC messing things up (I was flaring pretty badly).

I am not on pred and my periods are irregular. I get mine every 3 months.

I haven't had mine for over 2 years. I was on birth control for a few months and got it. Then I went off of them because I figured if it doesn't come naturally, maybe I shouldn't be messing with it.  Doctors can't figure out why, and I have stopped questioning it.

I haven't had my period since I was diagnosed w/ UC after my first major flare. Going on 2 1/2 years now....

Question for those of you without regular periods...

Does it freak you out? Do you take occasionaly pregnancy tests to make sure???

I think I'd be stressing out!

I tend to get mine a week early or a week late. Its never on time and I've been on bc for like 3 years

Weight and bodyfat percentage can affect your periods... if either or both are low - not uncommon with UC flares, you'll stop menstruating.

My period hasn't been regular since my dx ten years ago. My gyny says that it's ok. I do take pregnancy tests once and awhile just to be sure. I buy them at costco.

I always have a couple months of irregular periods after a taper of Prednisone. They are worse, too.

It doesn't freak me out.  I don't worry about getting pregnant because I'm not active at all. No desire for that what so ever. The thought of it gives me pain, and I'm single and have been that way for awhile.  The only thing that does bother me sometimes is that I might not be able  to have children.  I'm only 26 so, its hard to deal with that.  Oh well. what can you do?

Mine is totally not regular. I have concluded, as everyone, UC/prednsione. I did get to a really low dose of prednsione and started my period and then I have also had one period that was HEAVY and 3 weeks long. Very irregular.

Thanks ladies- It has now been 7 weeks since my period... Oh well. I am down to 10 mg of prednisone so maybe I will get my period soon.
