i hate uc

Vent away! I regularly curse my colon (aka Cranky).

Ha! Trying having it for 15 years! :) But I TOTALLY understand. I hate Uc, always have and always will until I have that puppy yanked that is (which I'm hoping will be in the near future). I have missed so many of my kids concerts or events, missed gatherings or going out, had to plan my vacations around my flares - it totally stinks. So vent away all you want because I can guarantee that 100% of us will say the same thing!

I hate it, too. I hate having to take medication every day, and knowing I'll probably have to for the rest of my life. I hate that people often get it when they're young. I hate that there is no known cause, or known cure. That being said, I'm glad I don't have it as bad as many, and I do feel it has made me appreciate the things that really matter in life a little more, and to not get so upset over the little things quite as often as I used to.

I have been a UC patient going on 22 years now. Mostly in remission except for an occasional flare. Flares have changed for me. No more diarrhea with my flares. But uncomfortable pressure and stinging in my lower left side accompanied by gas. And bad bouts of gas at times. And usually at night and early in the morning upon rising. Sure wish that would go away and stay away. Noticing certain foods now cause me many problems and I am trying a process of elimination right now starting with regular milk. I have changed to a soy vanilla lactose free milk, and while things are not completely gone it has improved. Wondering if I don't have IBS, the reason for all these different symptoms. Drives me crazy when I feel like I need to go to the bathroom and then am in there 3 or 4 times in an hour doing little bits the first 3 times and then I'll be back in there a fourth time doing what I feel I should have been able to do during one of the first 3 trips. And of course I am using probiotics and digestive enzymes and was using metamucil daily and those things cause the worse of the gas and severe bloating with it. Can't deal with that. My system is still trying to clear all the bloating out. Some times I feel like a inflated balloon. I hope gas symptoms like mine are not a sign of cancer. And I don't like the low backache I wake up with every morning right in the middle. Throbbing ache. I worry constantly about colon cancer even though only about a 2 1/2 inch section of my sigmoid colon is even affected. And it under control. But then I worry about every bad bout of gas I have and every bowel movement I have that to me is not normal. I have no anxiety medicine of any kind left which sucks. It relaxes me and helps with a change of my thoughts.  

I have only recently been diagnosed but have been suffering the symptoms for 2 years. In October I took a 2 week trip to the UK and joke with my friends that while they took a tour of the UK, I took a tour of the UK bathrooms. I'm glad that Britain and Wales are so bathroom friendly. There are public toilets in the most unusual places. I try to keep my attitude positive but some days it's super hard and everyone needs to vent.
I hate UC too.
