I've had to get up twice during night and run to toilet and it is nothing but clear mucous amd lots of it.I have lowerl left sided cramps and lower back pain, think thiscould this be just the beginnig of a flare in the lower part of colon?I can't get to a doc in next few days do you think increasing the cortifioam would help?

Sounds like the beginning of a flare to me. I get that too, alot of clear mucous and cramping. However, sometimes I get that too when I eat something that doesn't agree with me but I never flare either. That's why I think I might have IBS in addition to Uc - do you have IBS? The Uc flare beginnings can be a bit confusing to tell the truth!

I was going to say the same thing as Sherry. I have occasionally just had mucous when my IBS is really acting up. It usually happens once or twice and then things go back to normal.

It could be a flare coming on though.

.the mucous is constant now with D.I am starting to feel very nauseus and have had around 1O BMS this morning.I'm I also woke during the night because of the mucous (sorry for being so graphic, but i know a lot of us go through this).

That sounds like a flare coming on to me. Take care and call your doc as soon as you can.

Hate to say but yeah, sounds like a flare. :( It's no surprise really that you should be flaring considering everything that is going on at home with Beth and all. Even if we think we are handling things ok, our bodies tell us differently.

And why Marty! I'm surprised that you feel the need to apologize for "gross talk" here of all places! You've been with Hw for over 2 years, you should know better! :0)

Aw, Marty I hope it's not the start of a flare. Take care and hope you get into the doc asap. As Sherry said, no need to apologize for talking poop on here!

Red it actually was gross but i decided to edit it a bit.Lets just say i had a bad night.It is stress related.I got a phone call last week to say that something had showed up on Beths last MRI.We are so anxious to find out the results that i guess myUC had to start playing up.

Nothing wrong with increasing the cortifoam, good chance it'll help, it likely won't hurt that's for sure. I hope you can nip this flare in the bud but it's definitely the nature of the beast to start having so much frequency so quickly so the sooner you can get ahold of it the better...keeping fingers crossed for ya.

Hi Marty...you are flaring with the symptoms of diarrhea and other symptoms. For sure.

Are you already at nighty cortifoam? I just read that the dosing can be 1 - 2 x daily...so it seems it's OK to increase it.

How many asacol are you taking?

I hope all is OK with Beth's results....the constant stress of worry is for sure a huge factor.

I think it would be good for you to take some protiotics if you aren't on any...

Thanks everyone.Yeah things are starting to get worse as day goes on.Very tired and feverish.Hate the unpredictability of UC,you never really know when it is going to flare up.My wife will be home from work now so i can rest for the rest of the night.Plus the kids are on holidays for the next five days so they will be a great help i'm sure.
I felt a lot of abdominal cramps last week and have had a bit of D the past week or so.But when i was wakened out of my sleep last night with the extreme urgency and leaking i think i knew it was a flare-up.
I'm going to see if i can get my doc to phone me tomorrow to see what he thinks i should do.Thanks for your prayers and thoughts for Beth, she really needs them at the minute.

that's how my flare's start, i'd call you GI and see what they recommend. hope you are able to get this under control quickly.

I couldn't get my doctor to ring today, they said he will ring in morning. I am constantly running to the bathroom and i am just beginning to see tiny bits of blood, almost like little beads.I had a period of three hours without anything then a lot of cramping on my lower left side.I think i might take a few painkillers to take the edge of these cramps.

   I will ask or Pred in the morning as it seems to be heading towards a nasty flare up.The kids have been a great help today.

Oh, I'm sorry your body is doing this, Marty, and especially right now. You know exactly what to do for yourself, so I have no advice to offer. Just prayers for you and Beth and the rest of your family.

I agree that you seem to know what to do so all I can do is cross my fingers for you and hope that you get this flare settled quickly. Here's a ((hug)) to my favorite Irishman!

Got that call from my doctor today.He put me on a Pred and Colofac.He also increased my Asacol to 12 a day and gave me more cortifoam.I'm a bit annoyed becausei seem to have no control over my urgency and i have had another bad morning becausae of it.I've always been able to get to the bathroom in time but this flare has been really different.

  I feel that i'm really inflamed in the lower colon and rectum.I feel as if i'm aout to pass a large BM and then just a little blood and mucous  comes. I get to get up off loo and urge comes again but then same thing happens.Hopefully the drugs get it sorted.
