How can insurance companies deny/question claims for private rooms when a patient has a diagnosis of any type of IBD! I can't imagine when I was flaring and going to the bathroom 20+ times a day and barely making it to the bathroom, having to move my roommates nuns cap and replace it with mine in time! Or having a bedside commode with someone on the other side of a curtain hearing my cries of pain! Hospitals should have only private rooms on GI floors thus eliminating the insurance companies claims of "this exceeds the normal charge of a semi-private room". I am fighting with my insurance company for denying almost $3,000 for this reason, luckily my GI originally thought I had an infection so I needed to be isolated, or I would be responsible for this amount. The bill itself was for over $106,000 and they wrote off 3/4 of it and only paid out $32,000, but want to stick me with $3,000? Give me a break!
