Hi everyone,
Well, it's over. The scope itself wasnt too bad. My favourite GI did it, and he is great!
16 biopsies were taken, which seems quite a lot. Actually, it was a bit worse than I expected, as my symptoms right now are not too bad. Severe UC up to the splenic flexure and patchy inflammation in the right colon. I think 4 pseudo polyps, one of which is more than 1.5 cm and so it was biopsied. I tried real hard to stay awake and watched most of it on the screen. Although I didnt feel the biopsies, after each one was taken, I could see a gush of blood come out after the bowel was pinched, ugh.
I got home and headed out with a friend to a restaurant as I was sooo hungry. And OMG, what a nightmare. I was half way through my meal and I had a seizure! I woke up on the restaurant floor with everyone crowding around me. I sat up and then I had another one. My friend knows I have them and so he knew not to bother calling the ambulance. It was awful. I don't have them that often, but I think it was the lack of food that sparked these ones. Thank god I dont have scopes too often!
I've had far less BMs than usual in the 2 days since the colonoscopy, which is weird.
Anyway, I have been entered onto the Abatacept trial and I will have my first infusions on Tuesday. I will write back here after I have had them.
