Some of you may remember that I was chosen to address a group of pharmaceutical sales reps to give a patient testimonial of what it is like to have UC. I got back a few days ago, and I wanted to share that I think it went very well. I'm not a public speaker by any means but I figured I could give it a try for the cause of furthering UC awareness! I was very nervous but luckily the lights were so bright that all the people in the audience just looked like a blur
. I spoke for about
15 minutes, sharing about
how UC has affected both major milestones and everyday life. After it was over you would have thought I was a celebrity. So many people thanked me for sharing my story. These particular reps sell Lialda, which I don't take. And no they didn't even try to convince me to switch.
Something else I just found out about: The company, Shire, is putting together free informational seminars for patients with UC and their families (including a doctor, psychologist, nutritionist, etc) and they will be starting up around the country in a few weeks. I can give you the website so you can see if there is one in your area, but can someone let me know if I can post it on here?
