I had an idea today after reading that,
(sorry if I lead a little off topic here)
Why don't they consider an experimental model where the microorganisms are moderated by Stress-hormones (ie cortisol or something)? The basic line of thought with what i'm saying is maybe stress-hormones create an environment that favors the relative growth of these harmful microorganisms.
Have you ever read any IBD study where they even try to operationalize "Stress" like the above? Instead I seem to read a lot of anecdotal mish-mash pseudoscientific blabber regarding if/how "Stress" influences IBD. Any armchair psychologist can blabber on about "Stress," and its connection to IBD/Autoimmune disease etc. Why not be more specific about what it is we're talking about when we say stress, and do some studies?
