I know this may sound weird, but for the last couple of months, my poop has had a very distinct "sweet" smell to it! I have had UC for almost 10 years and I have never had this. There has been no change in my diet and I am having a mild flare (currently I stay in a state of a mild flare) so nothing unusual for me. Has this ever happened to anyone? I am seeing my Dr this Wednesday for a follow up to start Remicade and plan on talking to him about it then, but just thought I'd aske here also. I can't really find anything about it on the web.

I should also tell you that I also have chronic pancreatitis (4 years now) so I don't know if that has anything to do with it!

Hi...welcome to the form if I haven't done so as of yet!

I found one article that stated the possibility of volatile fatty acids or undigested lactose.

So, are you eating any dietary fibre?

Are you consuming milk products?

I have that sometimes, but not continually...I do assume it's food-related.

Is the sweet odour extreme? and is it continual for the past few months with some bms being worse than others?

I don't think it's related to pancreatitis...unless you're having floating white stools.

What was the cause of your pancreatitis.

I definitely think it's best to discuss it with the doc. Let us know what the response is.
