anyone take Nexium? (I can't believe it... another freakin' med)

so, my UC is great. no blood, no urgency, no pain, no frequency, no D. Amazing. Rectal meds ROCK! but now, some nauseau, lots and lots of burping, churning stomach (doesn't feel like UC churning). GI thinks it is acid reflux, which my mom has but I have never had. so, he is starting me on Nexium. anyone else take Nexium? how has it been for you?

I can't believe my UC is finally under control, and now I am one giant burp of a woman.... all I do is burp and churn....

I used to take Nexium for gastritis. I had to stop taking it when I became pregnant and have been off of it for about 10 or 11 months now. I miss it terribly! It worked really well for me... got rid of all the heartburn, reflux, nausea, churning, etc. No side effects. I plan to go back on it very soon. I'm just working to get it approved by my insurance company (they prefer Prevacid, but it didn't work for me when I tried it before, so I have to go through a process to get Nexium approved).

My husband takes Nexium, too, for GERD. He hasn't had any problems with it either.

Hi, I'm on Nexium and have had great success with it.  I have had acid reflux over 20 years and have tried different meds along the way - this one is working well for me.  If I miss a dose, I definitely know it!!    Because of the length of time I've had it and the lack of good meds for a long time, the acid reflux has done some damage to my esophagus.  This has led to a pre-cancerous condition called Barrett's Esophagus; I have to be scoped about once a year to make sure things haven't changed.  The chances of me developing cancer from this are very small, but slightly higher for me than someone else with barrett's because this is the type of cancer one of my grandmothers had.  But I don't worry about because that doesn't do anything except cause more stress (like I need more of that!!).  If it happens I'll deal with it then.  My doctors have said that I will have to take the meds for it forever in order to reduce/eliminate the chances of my developing cancer.  So I am most definitely staying on the meds.   Good luck with the Nexium.   Take care, Wen

Hey I know the feeling of adding yet MORE meds! I take Prilosec and it does a pretty good job of controlling my acid reflux. I definately can't do without it and if it keeps me out of pain and burn - hey then I'm all for that! Good luck and hopefully it can keep the churn away :)
