Lialda gas?

I know I have read several things on here about the gas that lialda can cause...I have been taking it for a week now and have terrible stinky gas...Will this eventually go away? Its killing me and everyone around me too...My husband is about to make me stay outside...LOL...All I can say is that I have a really hard time "holding it in"...I just hope it goes away!!! Oh, and how long does it take the med to work? I'm sure a week isn't really long enough...I'm still having some bleeding and mucous...Thanks and I apologize if this has been answered before, I just couldn't find it...

Hi...it can cause gas, and as you're healing...you will have gas as well.

How much Lialda are you on?

Again....I recommend the rectal meds asap...call the doc and at least request them...they will help heal the rectum.

Is your UC throughout?

You could also try some probiotics.

If your gas is vile..as well as bms, that's flaring.
You have a while to go....hang tough.

You could consider to update your signature...including where your UC is..etc.

Quincy, I really appreciate your help...You always seem to give good advice...I am taking 4 Lialda/day...My UC is throughout my entire colon...Is that considered pancolitis? I just have never heard my GI mention it as pancolitis, but he does say and has showed me on my coloscopy report that the UC is throughout...I do drink DanActive as a probiotic...Do you think that is sufficient? OH and about the rectal meds, I am going to call Monday about those...Today I had ALOT of pressure in the rectum area during and after a BM (Very uncomfortable)...I don't know why, but I just assume it is inflamation...Is that possible? I don't have hemmoroids (sp.) either, my GI has checked for those...

yes, UC throughout the colon is U. pancolitis or U. universal colitis.

I've never had DanActive..if it doesn't bother your stomach since it's a milk product..should be fine. But, you've just mentioned gas...could be that. I get lots of gas from yogurt. Some probiotics can cause gas as well..I think it's from replenishing the good bacteria..but I'd much rather take them via pills than yogurt. One once in a while for a treat, but daily..no can do for me.

How many a day can you drink of them? I don't think it's quite enough..you could add another type of probiotic geared toward UC.

I hope the doctor will give you the 5ASA retention enemas such as Rowasa or if you're not in the US..Salofalk...rather than suppositories.

It's good you don't have hemmies. I just have a slight inflammation of external ones...bothersome.

Oh, you could ask the doc for a script for Dicyclomine...just 10mg...it's an antispasmodic that will also help with the spasming in the rectum.

Let me know what the doc says about the meds.
