What the?

Ok...so I've read some of your posts about hair loss. I don't understand how i am still losing so much hair. Ive had colitis since 06. No flare-ups whatsover. I am taking colazal(4 a day) and thats it. Ive tried other 5-ASA drugs such as asacol and lialda and those didn't seem to do the trick. I have heard that they can cause hairloss. It's strange....I am perfectly healthy,workout 5 times a week, eat healthy, and takes vitamins...biotin etc....It's like my doctor doesn't really care....kind of like a ''go bald or die'' attitude. Going bald at 22 sucks!Any help?

I think you'll be surprised how many meds are on the list.

WindsofCreation, some of the other drugs used include:

Sulfasalazine - an older drug, sometimes not as effective and it can also cause hair loss.
Imuran (Azathioprine) or 6-MP - these are immunosuppressant drugs. They don't show hair loss as a side effect, but they can cause increased risk of infection, liver damage or pancreatitis.
Steroids - in addition to hair loss, they can cause moon face, weight gain and osteoporosis. They aren't intended for long-term use.
Biologicals such as Remicade and Humira - don't list hair loss as a side effect, but in some cases can cause a severe allergic reaction. They also suppress the immune system and make you more vulnerable to infections. In some people they cause joint pains also.
