Just curious here. Is low blood pressure typical of UC? I went to the Dr. this week and everything checked out fine and I'm feeling great - only went to get my Asacol prescript
ion renewed actually since it has been a year. They weren't highly concerned with my pressure but did mention that is was fairly low, it was 98/50 and on a second try on the other arm it was 108/60. I'm not overly tired, I don't get light headed, dizzy or anything. Personally I don't see a problem either with it, better than being too high. I have always been fairly low normally before my UC I was around 110/75. But the Dr. always mentions how low it is and also I should add more sodium to the diet - I'm not a saltaholic in anyway though. I'm just wondering do UCers typically have low blood pressure or is this just me? I don't find myself to be a typical UCer. My problems with UC seem to be way different from others on what affects me.

I've always had low blood pressure even pre Uc days. My norm is around 90/50 or so - sometimes it goes a bit higher but not by much. When the nurses take my bp, they always ask me if that is normal for me and I have to tell them yes. When my bp gets too low, I can tell because I get dizzy. Not sure how to bring it up though.

I run low too. Im typically 90/65.
During my last flare, I was 60/40 in the hospital. They said I was lucky I didnt have a stroke.

Mine went up to 140/90 and my pc put me on a very small dose of medication for it. Now it's usually 90-96/55-65. There doesn't seem to be anything in between for me.

my cardioligist would love for mine to be that low. at one point he had mine down to like 80 over 40, I called and ask if that was to low, he ask me if I had passed out from it I told him no he said then it not to low. But he had to change my meds because there was times I couldnt function. But normally when I dont feel good mine runs high instead of low. exspecially if I am in pain. anyway with having UC I still have to take bloodpressure meds to keep it down.

Thanks for the replies, my guess is that it is normal for me and UC has nothing to do with it. They ask me the same thing, "Is that normal for you" I have a hard time with that answer because before UC I hardly went to the Dr. so I never really tracked what my BP was.

Mine's super low too. Always has been. The nurse at my GI on Wed. actually took it twice and then declared "well I can see her breathing."

I am athletic and have always had low BP and body temps. My Bp is also 90's over 50's....even before I was diagnosed with UC. They jokingly take my pulse to make sure I am still there!

ditto for me - always low. And every time its taken they comment on how low it is. I'm not sure if it always was low or just started with UC. It would be interesting to know.
