do you have to persuade them to give $$$, or just do "something"? I'm in the minority here- I would pick another topic entirely. 10 minutes is too short a time to both educate/persuade. And, we're talking college kids here- making a short speech about chronic diarrhea & lack of bowel control might be more humorous than poignant. Might be! Maybe you could do something about living with a chronic disease in general, & try & persuade them to...I don't know, donate their time to students with disabilities, or help other students with a chronic illness, or volunteer at the campus health center.
I have to agree 100%. I know I wish people were more educated about
this disease, but I wouldn't want to tell my fellow classmates about
it for the reasons stated above. Besides, it doesn't fit the purpose of persuading people. I think I would choose the topic of persuading people to eat healthier and exercise more. There are a million statistics you could find online and in fitness magazines about
how certain small lifestyle changes can make a huge difference in health... just my opinion.
