Someone knew what UC was!!

 

I had an interesting thing happen the other day.  I was at the hospital getting blood drawn for a prometheus test (doc wants to up the azathioprine).  The woman drawing the blood looked down at my paperwork and said, "We have the same doctor.  Do you have UC too?"  It was great to sit and chat about how much we like our gi, and how cool is it to not only find someone who know what this is, but has it too?  It made a boring blood draw much more interesting.

I get tired of explaining to people, and just wanted to share with you that others are out there!

 

You can hide it and nobody wants to talk about it because it is "embarrassing" or makes them uncomfortable. Even my family thinks it is all in my head even after I show them the pictures of my bleeding ulcers. My mom thinks I have IBS....still after 10 years and multiple explanations. Some people just don't want to hear about it. It is great to know that there are some people that not only know what it is, but are sympathetic to it. I saw someone with a "got guts" bracelet on the other day and we had a great conversation as well. I think God puts people around when you need them the most to tell you to hang on that there are others out there with the same thing and you are not alone.
