Abatacept to Golimumab pt 2

Well, its all signed, sealed and under way.

Today was the pre-screen for this new trial. Bloods, stool, chest x-ray and TB scratch test.

darn this TB scratch is ITCHY!!!

Doc also thinks I may have c-diff as I have been flaring bad for the past fortnight, i was on anti-biotics for 2 months straight and when i go to the toilet, it smells like rotten eggs... My poor flat mate!

So yes. Flexi-sig is next Tuesday and if all goes to plan, in a fortnight, I will receive my first dose of the drug.

There is a 4 in 5 chance of getting the drug. 1 in 5 chance of placebo... Lets hope I have more luck with this stuff then with the previous trial!

Just went in for my TB screen pt 2 of the scratch test. Seems I don't have TB, but the result was enough that it may exclude me from the trial *cries*

Don't find out until at least next Tuesday afternoon how it all went :-/

STRESS MUCH

Spoke to my GI. He said that if I don't get into this trial they will be putting me on Infleximab (Remicade).

So will have to wait and see. Hope I do get into this trial cuz the feedback from other GIs seems to be that they are having extremely positive results.

I will just have to wait and see.

Well, I received "THE" phone call today informing me that I had been accepted into the Golimumab trial!

First infusion is on Thursday, and then its monthly injections using a Humira type pen from what I understand.

Such a huge weight off my shoulders. Hope it works!

ps - Eva Lou: You can't actually get into the Golimumab trial if you have ever had Remicade, thats part of the reason I was selected to apply for this trial.

Good luck! I'll cross my fingers for you- you could use something that really works, for a change! As always, keep us posted.
